Hi! I'm Shelly Wedge. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share with you the impactful work we do at Amberlea with Exceptional Families. This ministry holds a special place in my heart, as it is all about creating a supportive and inclusive environment for families with diverse needs.

Challenges Faced

Living in a world where understanding can sometimes be lacking, especially for children with unique needs, can be daunting. I have personally experienced the struggles of accessing appropriate programs and services for my own children, who may not fit into the typical mould. The journey wasn't easy, but it fuelled my determination to make a positive difference.

Creating a Safe Space

The Exceptional Families group, now in its second year, has been a beacon of hope for children and teens with autism. It's not just about having fun; it's about providing a platform for growth, skill-building, and meaningful social interactions tailored to each individual. At Amberlea, we have cultivated a culture of inclusivity and accommodation for families like ours.

Impactful Connections

One of the most rewarding aspects of this program is witnessing the transformation in both children and parents. The joy of seeing a hesitant child blossom into a confident participant is immeasurable. These children showcase their hidden talents and abilities, often surprising even their own parents.

Looking Ahead

The plans for the future are bright, with summer camps lined up to support children with autism. The sense of community, acceptance, and normalizing autism are at the core of what we do. Every contribution and support received truly makes a difference in the lives of these families.

Gratitude and Hope

I am truly blessed to be part of the Amberlea community, where support and understanding flourish. To all who stand behind these programs, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of these exceptional families.

Fun Autism Community Experience

F.A.C.E. Do you have a child, teen, on the Autism Spectrum... looking for an environment that is fun, with an opportunity to socialize?

Come and find out what F.A.C.E. (Fun Autism Community Experiences) is all about!

This is a new community program aimed at providing fun, recreational experiences for those on the autism spectrum.

Our goal is to create a safe environment so that your child can learn and have fun at the same time.
