Happy "NEW" year!
This year for Christmas the kids bought me a new watch. I love it. I didn’t really need a new watch but this one can do all sorts of things like receive text messages and emails, and remind me when to breathe and when to stand up. I can change the watch face on a whim and it can even tell time! But most of all it is NEW.
We love new things, don’t we? And I believe our God loves new things too. Even though God is called the Ancient of Days, I love what God says in Isaiah 43:18-19:
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
At the very beginning of God’s word in Genesis, God is creating a new world. At the end of the Bible, in Revelation, we read of God’s plan to make a new heaven and new earth.
God also wants to do something new in our lives. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:17:
If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
As we begin a new year let’s remember that no matter who we are, wherever we are, whatever the past, whatever the present, no matter how broken or separated we might feel from God… there is nothing that can separate us from the love that came down at Christmas — a love so great, so transformational, that it can change us forever. It can make us new!
I pray for you and your family a Happy and Blessed New Year!
